Born in Red Bank, NJ, Tim Keiper moved to New York City in 1999 where he was introduced to the Downtown music scene as well as to music from all over the world. He has had the opportunity to travel and study in Brazil, Mali, and India. He has toured and recorded with such diverse artists as David Byrne, Matisyahu, Imogen Heap, Cyro Baptista, Salif Keita, John Zorn, Vieux Farka Touré, and Dirty Projectors. Since 2018, Keiper has been working with David Byrne’s American Utopia. After a world tour, the show moved to New York for an acclaimed Broadway run. The show was captured by Spike Lee and released on HBO in 2020.
