Tamara Sastow, MS, LCAT-P, MT-BC, is a multi-instrumentalist, and board-certified music therapist. She holds a bachelor’s degree in contemporary music and jazz performance, and a master’s degree in the science of music therapy. Integrating elements of humanistic and psychodynamic theories, Tamara uses music and all of its facets to address cognitive, physical, emotional, aesthetic, mental, spiritual, psychological, and social needs of individuals of all ages in a myriad of settings.
While Tamara’s musical journey led her to the profession of music therapy, she is first and foremost a musician. A melophile to the highest degree! A dedicated member of the jam-band community, Tamara enjoys playing and teaching a variety of styles, including blues, funk, rock, pop, and folk. Her influences range from guitarists such as Trey Anastasio, Rick Mitarotonda, Derek Trucks, Jerry Garcia, and John Scofield, to folk artists and singer-songwriters such as Glen Hansard, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and Michael Kiwanuka.
