Reid Taylor has been a mainstay on the New York jazz scene for the past twenty years. He co-founded a group called The Flail which has played extensively throughout North America and Europe. He also has played with the Ned Goold Group for the past 15 years. He has appeared at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Smalls Jazz Club (NYC), the Jazz Standard (NYC), Blues Alley (DC) as well as many festivals throughout America and Europe. Reid has played with an assortment of jazz luminaries including Cecil Payne, Joe Farnsworth, George Garzone, Wycliffe Gordon, Charles Gayle and Roy Hargrove. He started playing in Washington DC and studied with the great Butch Warren, house bassist for Blue Note Records and bassist with Thelonious Monk. After moving to NYC to attend the New School, he studied with Dennis Irwin, Junior Mance, and Richie Beirach. His influences are vast and include Wilbur Ware, Paul Chambers, and Ray Brown.
